We have wonderful video to go along with a lot of the recent posts but video takes a while to load. In the midst of the busy season and with houseguests, this is difficult to do right now. So, please check back soon for video posts.
We had our friends Rachel and Andy and our friend Steve over for brunch on Dec 12. Rachel and Andy had their baby Hazel just 3 days later so it was the last time that we would see them as a couple. And we hadn't seen our friend Steve in a very long time. He got to meet Anjali for the first time.
This year, we didn't feel comfortable putting up the tree. Last year, the tree was up until April I think with the baby here. I am sure Anjali would have enjoyed it this year, but really, we just didn't feel like bringing it up and buying non-breakable ornaments. I do miss my tree however. A dear friend gave us flowers which we put in a vase on the table and the presents, all nicely wrapped and waiting for Anjali to open them on Christmas morning. She gets 3 presents from mama + papa: something to wear, something to play with, and something to read. She also gets some presents from her Nana + Nani too. Her grandma and grandpa already gave her her presents for Hanukkah when they were celebrating it earlier this month.
Last week, we took Anjali for her 9 mo well visit although we are a bit behind and she is really 10 months old. With the holidays, it was hard to get an appointment. She weighs 20 lbs, is 28 and 1/4" high, with a head circumference of 43.5 cm. I am not sure what percentile that is. I can assure you, however, that this girl is solid.
Milestones that we are experiencing are taking steps independently. She took 5 steps more than once yesterday. And her second bottom tooth is about to come in. She loves to dance and has this hand waving dance to LCD Soundsystem's North American Scum. It is a copy of mama's so we''ll have to record it when we get a chance.
She is enjoying her snacks at her snack station and is yelling her displeasure any time her papa or mama leave the house, get on the computer or phone, so hence, decreased posts for now.
Anjali was exploring Rachel's pregnant belly a few weeks back during a visit. She seemed to want to touch it and probably knew what it meant. Or maybe she wanted to touch it because it was round...maybe she'll tell us one day.
Thanksgiving, at our house, is always done with mama's family. Ragini, mama's sister came up from North Carolina to spend time with us. She brought her nice camera and took some fantastic photos of Anjali.
Today, after dinner, Anjali signed "all finished" and it was as clear as day. She did it three times. It was awesome! I think also, she has a code word for milk and I'll be watching this more in the upcoming days.
We went to the Please Touch Museum. There were a lot of fun things to see and do there for Anjali. I think here favorite was the little toy piano actually...Or maybe that was our favorite? She also really like the construction area with the big blocks, and the floating balls. She even got to use her new push-cart walking skills using a "mower." Unfortunately, they felt the need to funnel in some scent that we guess was supposed to smell like freshly cut grass. Seemed pretty toxic to us, so we moved along. I think Anjali will have more fun there when she is walking. And maybe next time we'll ride the carousel.
